Turning Hearts: Turning Wood

Our friends know that Phil and I are actively involved in the ministry of Camp of the Woods in Ontario, Canada.  We have spent lots of time there, working in the summer camps that reach out to the local children and teens with the gospel of Christ, and seeking to turn their hearts to His great love for the world, and them specifically.  As we become more involved in the ministry, we have become part of the leadership team, and Phil has become a member of the American Board of Directors for the camp.  Our heart for this outreach grows, and we continue to look for ways to support it throughout the year.

As many of you know, Phil has a real passion for turning wood and is very talented in creating beautiful bowls.  This past summer, while at camp in Canada, Phil was able to complete eight wonderful white birch bowls on the camp lathe. Each of these bowls came from a 40-year-old white birch tree growing near the old camp air strip.  Coincidentally, this coming summer will be Phil's 40th anniversary as a 1973 summer staffer.

Known for its distinctive white bark and spectacular fall foliage,
white birch is a very common and very beautiful hardwood growing in Ontario.

As part of our commitment to this vital ministry, Phil is offering these bowls to any of our friends and neighbors who would like to partner with us. We will send one of these bowls to anyone who agrees to donate $25 a month for twelve consecutive months to Camp of the Woods.  We will deliver the bowl to you personally or ship it to you free of charge.  Please be aware that none of the money you donate will go to either of us.  Our efforts are strictly voluntary.  Each dollar you give will go directly to the children's ministry at Camp of the Woods.  Use the donate button on this page to make your contribution, and be sure to contact us via email at pkiper49@gmail.com.

Bowl #1 is 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall.  It as four burned accent
lines to enhance the beauty of the white wood.
It has been carefully sanded and hand buffed to a satin sheen.
